We routinely see birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, iguanas, snakes, ferrets, chinchillas, turtles, and pet rats. Exotic pets tend to stay healthy if kept clean and given the proper nutrition.  Our emphasis is to counsel the owner on such issues and the practice of good animal husbandry. We occasionally encounter severe medical issues with one of these exotic species, and we will immediately refer these ill animals to a nearby exotic animal specialist. We recommend annual examinations on all species. Please transport your exotic pet in an appropriate carrier to avoid injury or escape.
